About Cancer52

55% of UK cancer deaths are from rare and less common cancers.  Cancer 52 is a coalition of over 100 charities working to address inequality and improve outcomes in rarer cancers (cancers outside the big 4).          Cancer52 | The common voice for rare and less common cancers 

Why are UKAOS joining Cancer52?

AOS plays an important role in rare cancers Not infrequently, this population interact with AOS due to first emergency presentation as suspected Malignancy of Unknown Origin  (MUO) or a consequence of treatment or disease complications. For many, AOS may be the only key worker service when individuals are at their most vulnerable.

• Cancer52 provides a strong collaborative voice to influence national policy
• Cancer 52  provides a framework for member support and broader engagement across patient support cancer charities, thus strengthening a key UKAOS strategic objective to develop a greater patient and carer voice.

Specifically, Cancer52 objectives:

• Partnership: Unify and empwer our member organisations.
• Patients: Use ur unique structure to capture the patient voice of those with rare and less common cancers.
• Policy: Take that voice on to those bodies and individuals who influence

The member offer is defined as follows:

• Inform – All Member Meetings, CEO calls, bulletins, member-only resources
• Engage – Big Cancer52 Conversation events, Westminster events, stakeholder access
• Empower – Unified policy voice and direct links to policymakers
• Collaborate – Peer connections (online and in-person), shared expertise, corporate connections cancer policy, science, clinical outputs, services and treatment.
