UKAOS Strategy Launch

UKAOS are excited to be sharing this five-year plan (our strategy), which has been developed by our Board and Trustees with the aim of ensuring broad stakeholder engagement with our members and partners across the UK. This is our first five-year plan since the launch of UKAOS in 2022. It describes our ambition for a more seamless urgent cancer care pathway, addressing current issues to try and improve patient experience and recognising the key role of partnership working across all health care professionals in supporting safe, effective and high quality urgent care for cancer patients.
The strategy includes six key pillars that aim to ensure Urgent & Emergency Cancer Care (UECC) is everyone’s business and will underpin the UKAOS annual work plans and objectives for the next five years. Acute Oncology is now embedded as a core service across the UK but we know from feedback and experience that there remains considerable variation in delivery and commissioning. Specialist Acute Oncology services remain at the core of our strategy but moving forward UECC needs to be viewed as a system wide challenge requiring partnership that supports cancer patients at every step through the urgent and emergency care pathway.
